Why Music Theory

Music is the one universal language that the globe speaks. We all are moved one way or another when we hear music. There is something about music that connects us all. But why do some songs move us more than others? And how do I know what I need to do to play these songs? And how can I tell my worship team what they should do for this song?

I believe it is important for musicians to have at least a basic, fundamental knowledge in regards to music theory. But not just to have head knowledge for knowing sake but to have the tools in their tool belt to be able to use their music to communicate something that words simply cannot communicate.
